Christ Church is an Anglican church in the Parish of East Greenwich

Christ Church is one of three churches in the Parish of East Greenwich, along with St. George’s, Westcombe Park and Holy Trinity, Greenwich Peninsula. These three churches form the East Greenwich Team Ministry in the Diocese of Southwark, and work together to support the community and people around them.

Christ Church has been part of a national trial by the Church of England, testing card readers in churches. Here are reports by Sky News and BBC on how the card readers are working here:

Christ Church meets in a contemporary Church worship space dedicated in 1989 at the East end of the original church building. We have an upstairs Chapel and the parish office. At the rear of the Church is our Peace garden.

Christ Church was built in 1849 as the daughter church of St Alfege in West Greenwich. In the mid 1980s Christ Church worked with other local charities to re-develop the original church building as a community centre and to build the new worship space.

Initially known as Christ Church Forum , the Forum at Greenwich. provides community space in the former church building at Christ Church for charitable use and for community building events. Find out more about the Forum at Greenwich here www.forumatgreenwich.org

The Christ Church peace garden can be accessed when the Forum is open by going round the back of the building and following the wall around until you find yourself in the garden. It is a peaceful place to sit and reflect with benches and other seating available. In the summer, we have occasional open days in the garden when prayer activities are set out in the garden and refreshments are provided in the Church.

The Christ Church peace garden is registered with the Quiet Garden Trust which roots its work in a verse from Mark’s gospel,

‘Come away to a deserted place all by yourselves and rest a while.’
(Mark 6: 31)
