We are here to care for God’s creation and pray for climate justice…
Eco-Church
In October, Christ Church spent a month thinking about how we can care for God’s creation through a sermon series, Connect group discussions, Junior Church and the Huddle. As a result of prayer and action, we have now been awarded the silver level award by Eco-Church.
In Lent 2020, we will be using the Church of England’s #LiveLent materials to help us think further about our response to the climate emergency. Our sermon series, based on the Archbishop of Canterbury’s Lent book, ‘Saying Yes to Life’ by Ruth Valerio, will start on the Sunday before Lent 23rd February. Our Connect groups will also be having a series based on the book for which we have developed our own group materials. We will be encouraging everyone to use the #LiveLent booklets which will be given out in church (adults and children’s versions available), sign up for the daily Church of England #LiveLent email or download the #LiveLent app.
Christ Church have recently been awarded the A Rocha Silver Award for our efforts to become more ecologically friendly:
Christ Church Green Team
Our Green Team are here to take practical action to care for God’s creation and clean up our community.
The Christ Church Green Team is starting up, led by Ruth, to go on litter picking prayer walks on the first Saturday of each month.
We will meet at 10am in the church garden for a prayer – then do about 2 hours walking and collecting rubbish. Bags and litter pickers will be provided. Please bring your own water and drinks to keep hydrated but snacks provided!
Our youth group, The Huddle, have got really stuck in to thinking about ways we can care for our creation as church – see the video below of all the ways they have been caring for creation…
