CCEG FC match report

So after a dissapointing end to 2019 with back to back losses, it was a big game today, everyone wanting to get back on track and start 2020 with a win. After a short sermon and some odd hand shaking ritual orchestrated by the ref we did finally get underway. For what it’s worth Woodside were a decent side, passed the ball well and may feel a little hard done by especially in the first half after a couple of good chances. Great to have the ever eager George back in goal, made a good brave save in fist couple minutes and took a knock in process, other than a couple corners gathered everything was solid, could do nothing about the penalty. I don’t like to big up the defence too much but central back 3 today were solid, Ben and Bjorn winning tackles and interceptions, each nearly getting on score sheet, myself covering their main striker, all working hard for each other and not giving them too much. Wingbacks looked good, full of running, Jack linking up nicely with midfield and Sam doing the same on the right, opposite his new nemesis no 7 Ash, looking fwd to round 2 of that in the return fixture. Lev was his usual self, controlled on the ball, always offering himself as the outlet and provided a great assist from free kick. Tom was dogged self too, their midfield was pretty handy but we broke up play pretty well. Coates was strong and mobile, linking up well with Charles, dig your shooting boots out next week and could grab a hat trick. Ollie was quality on the left, dropping off his man turning him, beating him and big part in most of our best moves. Charles got us off to a great start when match was perhaps just leaning towards them, strong finish outside the box and then picking up our 4th. Simon came on and had his best chance of the season so far, met the ball sweetly from a cross from the right, only for the ball to go about 8 foot wide. But big shout out to debutant James A, who made a huge impact off the bench, 2 goals from set pieces, classy on the ball and great decission making, look forward to more of that. Great to have Tim there, just need to work on your photography skills for next team pic ?.
What could have been a real Bannana skin to start the year saw arguably our best performance so far, great to get the Win and hopefully more to come in the next few weeks. Happy 2020 Everyone ????
