Update no. 17 on 2 July 2020
We are encouraged that we are remaining connected as church during these challenging times of lockdown. It is wonderful that so many people are joining us for our livestream worship at the time or later.
If you would like any help with how to use Facebook, YouTube or Zoom, please contact our Churchwarden, Michael.
Thank you to all of you who completed the recent survey as we consider how best to start services in the church building again. We particularly appreciated the positive and encouraging comments on our online worship during lockdown.
Services in Church in July
For all services taking place in the church building:
- Please come in through the church glass doors from Trafalgar Road (no entry via the Forum).
- You will be invited to leave via the garden doors.
- Social distancing and hygiene measures are in place to keep everyone safe.
Wednesdays 8th, 15th, 22nd and 29th July – 12.30pm
Our first service back in the church building will be on Wednesday 8th July and will be a simple said service of Holy Communion with Revd Margaret presiding and Revd John speaking.
Sunday 12th July – 8.30am
Next Sunday (12th July) there will be a simple said service of Holy Communion with Revd Margaret presiding and Revd John speaking in the morning.
Sunday 26th July – 7pm
On Sunday 26th July there will be a simple said service of Holy Communion with time for reflection and silent prayer in the evening.
CCEG Conversations: Racial Justice
We are in the process of having a conversation around issues of racial justice in the hope that listening and receiving will lead to action.
Sunday at Seven on Sunday 12th July will be a service of lamentation when members of our congregation will share stories, experiences, hurt and lamentation. We will come together in prayer and worship, to listen to one another, learn from one another and lament together.
Everyone is invited to join in so we can all share our own stories and experiences and listen to the stories and experiences of others. You could:
- Join our Facebook closed group here.
- Post a thought on our ‘padlet’ wall here which can be done anonymously – contributions are moderated.
- Respond directly to one of the members of the steering group – Michael Crawford, Pam Zigomo, Catherine Millar or Revd Margaret.
Please note the Facebook group and Padlet wall are guided by rules and moderation to keep it a safe space. We hope that people of all races will join the conversation.
You might like to take a survey on your own unconscious bias here which asks questions about implicit associations you make without realising.
The Bible Course
Throughout June and July we are looking at The Bible Course in our Sunday Worship Services and in our Connect Groups.
The Bible Course is designed to help us understand and access the Bible more easily. Over eight weeks we will see the big picture of the Bible storyline – from Genesis to Revelation.
If you are not already in a Connect group, why not join one for this eight week course via Zoom?
Contact Margaret if you are interested and we will arrange for a Bible Course manual to be delivered to you.
There will also be a ‘Zoom’ coffee time after the service. Make your own hot drink and join us at 11am for a chat! If you would like to join us, please click on the link in the weekly email and follow the instructions.
If you are not receiving the weekly emails and would like to please let Margaret know and she can add you to the list.
