Another weekend and another big game, off the back of 2 draws we welcomed Woodside knowing a victory would put us top of the league. Although Woodside are at the bottom of the league, we only had a couple more wins than them and know they have a few handy players. With storm Dennis approaching we knew the wind would play a role today, we kicked off playing into the wind. Strong play, decent passing and a high energy start saw us assert ourselves despite the wind. A questionable offside chalked off a goal for Tunji, but shortly after a strong shot from Tunji could only be parried up in the air where Tom had made up a lot of ground and was on hand to head in the rebound. With our midfield dominating and defence doing the basics well under pressure we ended the first half 1-0 up. With the wind in our favour we knew chances would come in the 2nd half, however it wasn’t down to direct football, but quality passing and movement that kept us unlocking the Woodside defence. A lovely touch from Tunji saw Ollie go through who hit a bending shot from edge of the box the keeper could only push into his net. Not long after Tom put Tunji through for a smart finish into the bottom corner. Sadly we did concede a goal, bit of complancy and just switching off for a moment saw them score from inside the box after some sharp passing. We didn’t let them get back in the game though and Ollie created a bit of space for himself on edge of the box, and burried his finish to make it 4-1 and then Not long after Tunji got his 2nd finishing after Ollies shot rebounded off the post. Great result, and played some quality football today, everyone dealt with difficult conditions well and we played right to the end.
Fab had a good game little to do first half but made a couple of good saves in 2nd half and commanded the box well. Linh was tidy at left back, found himself in their half quite a bit linked up well with midfield. Sam was strong and reliable at right back, nothing complicated, job done. Joe H and Joe CH had decent games at centre back, dealt with most things well and looked more comfortable on the ball. Big month ahead for us both as we loose Ben for 5 matches, who was strong, dominating and stepped into midfield well. Jack was moved about and dealt well wherever he ended up playing, 100% effort, strong in the tackle and smart passing decisions.Tom was class today, after being caught couple times early on, sharpened up and a got us moving forward, passing and running well. James A again showed what an addition to our squad hes been, quality passing, vision and comfortable on the ball under pressure. Jason was an enigma some absoloute moments of magic and great link up with Tunji, but def not wanting Louis to be alone in category for miss of the season squandered a opportunity from about 3 foot out. Ollie great goals, assists, strength and movement, on any other day would have been MoM, but that honour goes to Tunji today. Growing in confidence every match proving himself a massive handful for every defence in the league, another brace, running the line really well, linking up with midfield, great strength that golden boot competition in on.

Unbeaten 2020, tough games to come, let’s keep it going. #topoftheleague
